No Entry to Masai Mara without Equity Card



All visitors to the Maasai Mara National game reserve must acquire a smart card from Equity Bank or be denied entry.

Both local and foreign tourists are required to get the controversial smart card to avoid being sent back the nearest Equity bank outlet 90 kilometres away. The county council of Narok which runs the park indicates that a number the cards can be obtained from a number equity bank outlet in Nairobi, Mombasa and Narok, as well as advance orders online.

The world renowned game reserve resulted to the use of the electronic ticketing to tame run away corruption that used to deny it revenue. Controversy erupted over the introduction of the card system, but the council insists it has helped them increase revenues by sealing loopholes.
